Become a Friend

Becoming a Friend of Hearing Dogs is a great way to support our work. A fee is NOT charged but a suggested donation of $20-25 when you become a Friend and an annual donation of $20 thereafter is welcomed. Please note however, a donation is NOT compulsory. You can still become a Friend by making a lesser or greater donation or even without making a donation !

Raising awareness of the role and value of Hearing Dogs is crucial to our work and this is why we need Friends.

Friends of Hearing Dogs encourage others in their community to consider supporting us in a way that might be comfortable for them. For example, a Friend might, with permission, place a Hearing Dogs poster in the foyer of their local community hall, on the notice board at their local library or shopping centre or take information leaflets along to their local friendship group or service club.

A Friend might recommend Hearing Dogs be nominated to be the recipient of funds raised by a group they belong to. They might also suggest that a registered speaker from Hearing Dogs be invited to give a presentation to members. Or a specific fundraising event take place to raise funds for Hearing Dogs.

Other ways in which a Friend might support our work include selling gift items on our behalf, undertaking fundraising activities and encouraging people who might be interested to become a donor, co-sponsor or support us in another way.

When you become a Friend, we will send you a certificate, several small Hearing Dogs gift items and a small quantity of information fliers for you to give away as you feel appropriate. We will also send you some fundraising ideas, information regarding how people might support our work and copies of our 'Hear Boy!' brochure.

By becoming a Friend of Hearing Dogs you will join a small but dedicated group of individuals all over New Zealand who actively support our work by raising awareness of our work and the role and value of Hearing Dogs. 'Friends' often help with awareness and fundraising activities such as acting as a volunteer at Expos or other events.
